Volunteers are essential to the smooth running of Welcome Home Refugee House and are vital to creating an essential warm, friendly, and hospitable community for newly arrived refugees.

At Welcome Home, you can contribute in many ways, such as:

  • Bringing a meal for our weekly House Dinner on Wednesday night
  • Playing games or music, craft nights
  • Special events
  • Tutoring English, math, computers, and more.
  • Cleaning our facility for an hour a week.
  • Join our Canadian Friends program.  We’ll match you with a refugee.
  • Handy person:  Cleaning, painting, repairs, shoveling, mowing the lawn, gardening
  • Drivers: for outings, hearings and lawyer appointments in
Toronto and Hamilton,  and occasional local appointments
  • Housing Search volunteer: Help a refugee find their own apartment as they prepare to move from Welcome Home
  • Moving Team: Helping residents move into their own apartment- truck, driver, movers
