Volunteer

Special Note:  It’s True- we are re-opening by Sept 1, and will have access to our new facility by Aug. 1, so this is a good time to start the process of becoming a volunteer!

Volunteers are essential to the smooth running of Welcome Home and are vital to creating a warm, friendly, and hospitable community for new arrivals.

At Welcome Home, volunteers contribute in many ways, such as:

  • Bringing a meal
  • Playing games or music, craft nights
  • Special events
  • Tutoring
  • Join our Canadian Friends program.  We’ll match you with a refugee.
  • Handy person:  Cleaning, painting, repairs, shoveling, mowing the lawn, gardening
  • Drivers: for outings and events, and occasional appointments
  • Housing Search volunteer: Help a refugee find their own apartment as they prepare to move from Welcome Home
  • Moving Team: Helping residents move into their own apartment- truck, driver, movers
